Back Pain After Eating

We all enjoy a good meal.  There is nothing better than spending time with family members and friends and sharing a delicious home cooked meal.  Often, the only time we get to do this is during a special holiday or on an anniversary.  At such occasions we all tend to overindulge a bit, or a lot.  When we do this, we have a sensation of being very full and feeling uncomfortable.  This is not the healthiest way to eat but once in awhile we can all get away with it.

However, if we eat a meal and then feel pain there is a problem.  Some of us eat and then experience back pain.  This may seem odd and at first we may not make the connection between eating and back pain.  But if you consider that the back and the stomach or abdominal area is connected, then it makes a lot more sense.  The reason we do not connect eating and back pain is because we would expect to have a stomach ache from eating.  If you are experiencing back pain after eating normal meals then it is time to have it checked out.

It would be accurate to say that we all live very busy lives.  Most people living modern lifestyles suffer from a great deal of stress.  We either have to drive in heavy traffic or wait in lines to use packed public transport.  We are forever rushing from location to the next.  Everybody is working hard and many of us have more than one job just to pay the bills.  On top of all that millions of us are overweight.  This excess body fat puts even more strain on our heart and other organs.  The more stress we are experiencing the more we eat, and the more we put on weight.

Stress has a very bad effect on our digestive tract which is already under enormous strain from the amount that we are eating.  Our strained lifestyle is often manifested in a condition called spastic colon.  This is caused by a combination of bad eating habits and stress.  The colon actually goes into a spasm and causes a lot of pain that can also be felt in the back.  The only way to get rid of this pain is to eat properly and relieve stress.  Do not eat fast and chew your food well.  Take up an activity like yoga.  It will train you to relax.  Yoga teaches breathing techniques that are very useful in counteracting stress.

There are many disorders of the stomach and digestive tract that cause pain in the back after eating.  If necessary a medical specialist will do a thorough examination to find out the root cause.  If we are lucky, the pain could be caused because we eat too fast and it affects the opening to the stomach.  This kind of pain is felt in the chest and the back.  It is easily remedied by simply eating slowly.  Learning to manage stress levels will in turn help with back pain.   It is only after being examined by a doctor that you will know exactly what to do.
